Semifinal Speech Contest District Assignments

The speech contest semifinals take place Thursday, August 16, and the nine winners —

representing regions from around the world —

will advance to the final WCPS round, to be held Saturday, August 18.

(Districts have been randomly assigned to the contests. Districts in each event are listed in numerical order).

Toastmasters International

Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations in 113 countries.

Through its member clubs (226 Clubs in District 51 beginning July 1st 2010), Toastmasters International helps men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking using their proven educational program which is self-paced and affordable.

A Toastmasters club adopts a "learn-by-doing" philosophy, wherein each member learns at a pace suitable to their developmental needs & also teaches leadership skills.

This is motivated in part by the fact that TI is staffed completely by volunteers (except for a staff of about 80 paid personnel at the World Headquarters). Even the board of directors is composed of volunteers who still hold membership in a local club, and are not paid.

To become a member of a club (minimum age 18.)
Membership is affordable:
USD$20 new member fee & USD$27 dues every six months.
